Ceramic Coating FAQs
If you are interested in getting the Ceramic Coating service and would like more information on this service them here we provide some frequently asked questions by previous custumers that may answer most of your questions! If you have any questions before booking your service you can call/text 216-302-7996 or email us at zayas.mobile.detailing@gmail.com
1. What is ceramic coating?
Our ceramic coating is a professional-grade SiO₂/Quartz based protective layer that chemically bonds to your vehicle’s paint (and other surfaces if selected). Unlike wax or sealant, it becomes part of the finish—providing enhanced hardness, chemical resistance, and improved hydrophobic performance.
2. How long does the coating last?
With our full prep, paint correction, and proper after-care, you can expect 2–5 years of performance on our standard package (e.g., “Protection Plus”). For our premium package (e.g., “Elite Shield”), you might see extended life with yearly maintenance included. (Full warranties listed below.)
3. Is it scratch-proof?
No. The coating improves resistance to light swirl marks and helps prevent micro-marring from routine washing—but it will not stop rock-chips, door-dings, or deep scratches. Be realistic when we walk you through what it protects.
4. Will it prevent rock-chips or road rash?
No. These forces are physical impacts. If you’re concerned about rock chips, we can discuss adding or combining with paint-protection film (PPF). The ceramic coating works best as a cleaning-ease and durability layer.
5. What prep is required before coating?
We perform full decontamination (iron-oxides, industrial fallout, etc.), inspect the paint, and machine-polish as needed to remove swirls or defects before applying the coating. We will not apply coating over wax, filler, or any surface that isn’t properly bonded. You’ll receive before/after photos as standard.
6. How soon can the car get wet after coating?
For the first 24 hours after the coating, we ask that you avoid washing it or letting it stay wet for long periods. If rain occurs, rinse off gently and blot dry rather than letting water sit. After this initial cure period we’ll give you full care instructions tailored to your choice of coating.
7. What maintenance does it need?
Use pH-neutral wash soaps (no harsh detergents)
Decontaminate periodically (iron remover, clay bar if needed)
Optional “Topper” service every 12–18 months to renew slickness and chemical resistance
Annual inspection included with premium package
Failing to maintain will reduce lifespan of the coating.
8. Do I still need to wash the car?
Yes. The coating makes washing easier and safer—but it does not keep the car clean on its own. Dirt, grime, brake dust, and environmental fallout still need to be removed. Neglect reduces the coating’s effectiveness and longevity.
9. Can I wax over a ceramic coating?
Yes. If you want extra gloss we can apply a wax or sealant on top. It’s optional. What’s important is you don’t apply a coating on top of wax or filler—it prevents proper bond.
10. How much does it cost and why?
Our pricing is based on: vehicle size, degree of paint correction required, number of coating layers, and package tier. anywhere between $400-$2000
11. What does a maintenance service include?
Our maintenance service includes:
Full pH-neutral wash
Iron removal treatment
Water-spot / brake-dust removal
Re-application of a “Topper” layer to refresh slickness/beading
Routine maintenance helps protect your investment.
12. Can a ceramic coating be removed?
Yes—but it is labor-intensive. Removal often requires machine polishing, possibly wet-sanding, and re-prepping the surface before re-application. That’s why proper prep/maintenance from day one matters.
